Walking, Fresh Air, and Friendship!
In the midst of the recent quarantine, medical professionals stress the importance of going outside to move your body. This is just as important for the elderly as, they too, are experiencing the pain of being shut in the house. Being outside does not have to include a long distance. For seniors still in their home, a walk around the yard will promote a different atmosphere, fresh air, and time to reflect. Being safe is of the utmost importance as a family member or care provider should be on hand for safety reasons. Observing the garden, smelling flowers, watching wildlife, will offer comfort and allow the knowledge that their home is intact, and they are safe. To promote social value, share a conversation you know your client or loved one is interested in. Enjoy a snack on the picnic table, cut flowers to take inside, and most importantly, breathe the fresh air!
