Painting Lines, Leaves and Lavender
This art lesson inspired class participants to find their own voices while practicing brushwork skills.
Hummingbird Activity Specialist Keesje invited the artists to first paint lines, experimenting with color and thickness of lines.
In a second painting, Keesje demonstrated how to add leaves to the vertical lines and dab purple blossoms to the lavender stalks. Variations were encouraged. Creative expression was nurtured in the community of the class.
Ruth tried holding the brush upright, learning that she has more control this way. “Beautiful,” she said.

Marina decided abstract was the direction she wanted to go.

To take it further, experiment with painting circles, adding leaves to create a wreath.
The beauty is that there is no right or wrong when it comes to creative expression!
